YORKSHIRE PALLETS - Members of THE UK WOOD PACKAGING MATERIAL MARKING PROGRAM (ISPM 15)

Yorkshire pallets manufacture pallets, cases and crates to your specifications which now meet the criteria of the recent above stated international legislation.

There has been increasing concern in recent years about the spread of infestation such as the Asian long horn beetle through wood packaging. To reduce the risk of the spread of pests a set of measures have been imposed which many countries have and are now adopting a standard based on the findings of the International Plant Protection Convention. The UK Wood Packaging Material Marking Program is based on the guidelines set out in ISPM15.
Consequently, all purchasers and users of wood packaging material (Pallets, Boxes, Crates, Cable Drums/Reels etc) need to be informed of the adoption of the International Phytosanitary Standard of Wood Packaging (ISPM15).

In laymans terms: This means that any product being exported must have timber used for the manufacture of pallets and cases that is free from bark, contamination and infestation. To comply with the import standards, the timber used must be either "Heat Treated" for 30 minutes at 56oC or Chemically Fumigated/Treated.
These regulations already apply to China, Australia and some Middle East Countries. However, they now apply to packaging products going to America, Mexico and Canada. The standard may well apply to some parts of Europe later in the forthcoming months.
